The cold shrinkable tube is a kind of rubber insulation tube which is pre-expanded on the plastic supporting core. When we use, the support core can be removed after positioning.The support core is an indispensable part of the cold shrink tube. The support core is prepared by using a plastic extruder to extrude the core, then winding, welding, trimming, inspection and other processes are made according to the requirements of the process technical parameters.

In many customers’ consultations, the welding method of the support core will be used as an evaluation standard for product performance. What are the main welding methods of support pipes and what are the differences?

There are two main welding methods for support core: Heat sealing welding and laser welding
 

Laser welding is an efficient and precise welding method that uses a high-energy density laser beam as a heat source. The welding process is one thermal conductivity type, which means the surface of the workpiece is heated by laser radiation and the surface heat is diffused into the interior through thermal conduction. By controlling the parameters of the laser pulse width, energy, peak power and repetition frequency, the workpiece is melted to form a specific molten pool. The main factors which affected the quality of heat sealing during the production process are heat sealing temperature, heat sealing time and heat sealing pressure.

Heat-sealing welding is testing the proficiency and operating experience of the workerd, while laser welding is more mechanized. Although the principles of the two welding methods are different, there is no big difference between the produced support cores.
